WHEN FACED WITH SO CALLED PROGRESSIVE BUSINESSES, STAY SKEPTICAL RESPONSE

The general idea of the article explains how although progressive businesses may provide an avenue for the development of progressive social change within our society and economy, they are not a substantial solution.
The article highlights the tension between two business models known as the “classical business creed” and the “managerial business creed”.
Economist Milton Friedman sought out to fortify the classical business creed which values the core features of a capitalist system which are commonly known for land ownership, competition within a free market and more.
The general idea of the article hints that even though progressive businesses may improve the wellbeing of stakeholders, only the government can provide long term sustainable plans that target the welfare of all citizens.
I believe there is some truth to the notion that progressive businesses. My view on a majority of modern progressive businesses is that they appear progressive not mainly to fulfil corporate social responsibility, but for positive publicity. This is not to say that all social enterprises are one big publicity stunt because as noted in the article, progressive businesses in this modern era don’t believe it contrary that a business can be for profit and for society, but following the main idea of the article, progressive businesses should not be a substitute for progressive politics.
